Back to the Basics

"Dear Friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before god and receive from him anything we ask, because we obey his commands and do what pleases him. And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us" (John 3:21-23).

2 Cor. 15:21
For he hath made him to be sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Heb. 4:15
For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all ponts tempted like us as we are, yet without sin.

1 Pet. 2:22, 24
Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth...Who his own self bary our sins in his own body on the tree tht we , being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

1 John 3:5
and ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.

Jesus did not become sin; in other words, He did not in His human nature, become sinful.  Rather He took on our sin, bore our sin, and this though fully human without a human father but God the Father as His Father, a man, lived sinless and died sinless to pay our debt of sin that we being sinful by our nature could never have paid.  Some are teaching that Jesus became sin, therefore, needed to be reborn as we do, and this rebirth was His resurrection.  This is heretical, for Jesus had tow natures, human, and divinity.  For Jesus to have become sinful he would not be able to be the payment for our sins and as God; He is not able to be sinful.  He was without sin only the sin bearer as he offered His life and sacrifice to god by carrying the debt for us that God accepted as payment for all who would accept His son as the payment for their sins.  Jesus did not become sinful: as a truck, does not become what it is carrying to a destination.  It is the bearer by taking on the freight and then delivering it in an acceptable manner to the recipient, as in the case, Jesus sinless life and death, as a sinless man carried the acceptable "freight" and in an acceptable manner by which our sins are forgave.

This is the ground of our faith, nothing more, and nothing less.  to add to this to make us more acceptable, and to make our worship more acceptable is unscriptural.  Believing upon Jesus as our Savior we shall follow His commands that He clearly outlined for us: to love God with our whole heart, mind, body, and soul; and to love our neighbor as ourselves.  This is the whole law and the requirement for Christians, nothing more, and nothing less.  Keeping those two commands, we will then be compelled to keep all the "sub-points" embedded in those commands:  do not commit adultery, do not get drunk, keep away form idols, etc.  Today many are teaching that there is more that is needed, i.e., to call down heaven, to dance around like drugged crazy people, calling it worship.

Do not be mislead, it is Jesus only, He has done it all, live the two commands, pray for help, He will provide for you so that you can keep the commands and if you falter He will forgive and lead you on to a life pleasing to Him.  Read your Bible, Pray, and live life for it is in these two disciplines that our lives will be a witness for Him, bringing to our world the Good News of salvation that is our holy ordained work.

Daily Prayer:

Thank You Father for the simplicity of Your commands, the fact that You have done it all and all that You desire is for us to follow Your commands without adding anything to them, they are complete.  May I be a blessing to You and to my world as I live out Your commands.                                   Amen
