In this vision the temple is thrown open, even into the inner sanctuary where the prophet sees the Divine presence seated on the mercy seat. Isaiah sees the Son of God, the second person of the Trinity. The vision is explained to us by the Apostle John (John 12:41). Isaiah sees the seraphim crying out, "Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is filled with your glory" (vs. 3). If the angels are thies reverent in their attendance on God, with what godly fear should we approach His throne! They teach us to do the work of God with cheerfulness and expedition.
What is this work of God? Jesus commands us to go into the world and make disciples (Matthew 28:18-20). We are to be ambassadors carrying the message of reconciliation to our world (2 Corinthians 5:16-21). We may not be called to a forign land; our first ministry is in our own backyard. Do it there! Jesus is calling, "Who will go?" Are you willing to say, "Send Me!" And what is this message? It is "Good News!" Let the same attitude, as that of our Savior, become your attitude. Jesus came and did the work assigned to Him. (1) He was to assume our nature, humbling Himself to be born of a woman, and then to be found fashioned as a man. This is real incarnation. He was to become flesh, touch by our infirmities. (2) Being made under law, He voluntarily fulfills all righteousness by obeying the law of God. (3) He was to bear our sins, to be a curse for us. This involved a life of humiliation, sorrow, and suffering, and death upon a cross. He covenanted to do all this.
This Covenant made by Jesus to do the will of God and in the fullness of time He came and accomplished all the stipulations of the compact with the Father. There are two things that follow: First, salvation is offered to all men on the condition of faith in Christ. We are then commanded to take this gospel into all the world. The gospel, howerver, is the offer of salvation upon the conditions of the covenant of grace. Second, the covenant of grace is made with all men. The great sin of those who hear the gospel is that they refuse to accept of that covenant and place themselves outside of all that the gospel encompasses. The condition of the covenant, is faith in Christ.
Without the work of Christ there would be no salvation; and without faith there is no salvation. He that believes on the Lord Jesus Christ has evderlasting life. He that believes not, shall not see life, but the wrath of God is upon him. The promises that occur in the Scriptures are compreshensive, "I will be your God, and you shall be my people (Romans 9:23-25). This covenant involves the complete restoration of our normal relationship with God. God is said to be our God, our infinite portion, the source to us of all that God is to those who are the objects of His love. As His favor is life, and His loving kindness better than life; the enjoyment of His love and fellowhip with Him sevures for us, the highest possible exaltation, the promise to be our God includes all conceivable and all possible good.
We have been selected for the special love of God and the highest manifestation of His glory. We are justified, sanctified, and glorified. We are rendered perfectly conformed to His image, devoted to His service, and obedient to His will. God is calling, "Who will go!" Stand up, confidently shout out, "Here am I, send me!"
Daily Prayer:
Thank you Father for sending your son bringing to us your salvation. I am willing to do your will, send me! Amen
