Delighting In The Lord

"The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing" (Zephaniah 3:17)

How has your week been? Maybe this will lighten things up a bit.

A Texan in New York City needed to call a nearby community. "Deposit $1.85 please," instructed the operator. Pulling himself up to the full height and dropping into his thickest drawl, he objected, "Ma'am, I'm from Texas, and in Texas we can place a call to hell and back for $1.85!" "I understand, sir," retorted the operator, "but in Texas, that's a local call."

Was this week was like going to "hell and back" but for a lot less than $1.85. Sit back, take a deep breath, and listen God is singing. His choir, the angels are backing him up, and in the best of all melodies, He is singing, "I rejoice over you, I take great delight in you. I am mighty to save."  I never thought of God singing before, wonder what kind of music He likes best, probably "Love Songs." He loves to sing over us His love, and provide rest for our weary souls. All we have to do is tune in, the channel is always open, and the way is through meditation on His Word. Reflect on all the good things He has done.

I have taken my mind off of the struggles of life this week as I have followed the rescue efforts in Haiti. On my knees, not thankful it isn't me, but rather, that God would send help, workers, and bring to those who are trapped a rescue team for them. For those who lost loved ones, comfort and peace.God is mighty to save, and He will answer our prayers for those there in Haiti. Pray for the workers, as they pull body after body out of the rubble. Those workers need strength and rest. Equipment is needed, pray for God to speed delivery. Isn't it interesting that when you take your mind off of your own struggles and place it upon the needs of others how this brings comfort to you as you place your faith in God who hears and answers prayers, your trip to "hell and back" becomes more like you never left home.

That call to God, "Deposit your faith," instructed the operator, the call is free. While waiting to connect we are blessed with the music from heaven, angels just love to sing, they are singing for you. God waits just long enough for you to enjoy the moment then He comes on line, "That problem you are calling about, I have taken care of it, help is on the way," "The Sovereign LORD is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to go on the heights." (Habakkuk 3:19).

Daily Prayer:

I praise your Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, for you are my rock that I stand on. I rejoice and delight in you for you stand by me and give me strength. I pray for those in Haiti, bring them your comfort and peace, give to the weary rescue workers your strength. Bring aid to them quickly, Thank you!      Amen
