I think the first time God "showed off" was creation of the universe. The angels were probably saying, "Whatsuup! Whatsthis! Wow! Then God "showed off" more, He created man, again the angels were in awe, "so much like us and yet so different," I can hear them saying. "Do you really want to see something?" Asked God to His angels, then a worldwide flood that "showed off His great love" He protected and saved Noah and his family. Well that wasn't enough, there was the plagues upon Egypt, then if that wasn't enough He "showed off" by parting the Red Sea when Moses acting in faith put his foot into the water. Elijah, after marinating the meat with water stood back and God lit the barbeque, 450 guest were not only amazed they died over it. There was that time when marching around Jericho, Gideon went to battle against a foe much stronger and with many more soldiers than his small band of 300 men, God showed up, and "showed off. I could go on, it seems as though God likes to "show off." The greatest "show off" was when Jesus was raised from the dead. That time God outdone himself, I thought until I realized that the greatest of all "show offs" was that He removed my sins and accepted me into His family. All made possibel becasue He took the time to "show off" by the resurrection of Jesus and His ascension into heaven as our payment for a debt we could not pay. That is huge, a real "show off" our God is, and I am thankful He is!
Have you noticed that God is still "showing off" in the lives of His people? Has he "Showed Off" in your life? Once we experience Jesus, not just know of Him and about Him, but a real experience our lives change. We know longer live for ourselves but for Him. Then He "shows off" by using us in many ways to reach out and help others, to bring the message of salvation and then we see God "showing off" by changed lives and by changed situations in peoples' lives. Look back at your own life, see and remember those times when God showed up and "showed off" for you. Keeping those times in remembrance will help us when times get tough. Reading the Bible taking time to see how God worked with men and women and their times when God showed up and "showed off" for them helps to build our faith. If He did it for them, then He can according to His will do it for you. He is the same yesterday, today, and tommorrow, He does not change.
The exciting life being a Christian, no other religion has so much excitement, no idol made of earthly material will do, no god that requires death of yourselves and non-believers who won't convert, will do, only Jehovah God through the redemptive act of Jesus and by the power of Holy Spirt will do. Count your blessings, give all to Jesus and He will continue to "show off" just for you.
Daily Prayer:
You are great O God, your love is more than I can contain. Thank you for "showing off" letting us know just who You are and being present in my life. Walking with me through the struggles, when I have messed up, and forgiving when I truly repent. I will be obedient and leave all the consequences to you. You have been faithful, and I want to be faithful. Use me to further your kingdom. Amen
Another good one.
