When God Sings

"The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing" (Zephaniah 3:17).

Have you ever thought of such a thing? I had not! God singing? Over me? In perfect pitch, tone, and words so magnificent, in in complete harmony. His back-up is a choir of Angels. He quiets us with love songs, he delights in and writes new songs. We are invited to sing with him: "Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, singing; "To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power for ever and ever" (Revelation 5:13). "...But only the redeemed will walk there, and the ransomed of the LORD will return. they will enter Zion with singing; everlasting joy will crown their heads. gladness and joy will overtake them, and sorrow and sighing will flee away" (Isaiah 35:9b-10). Who do you know that has a need for God to sing over them? "Then Moses and the Israelites sang this song to the LORD: 'I will sing to the LORD, for he is highly exalted. The horse and its rider he has hurled into the sea. The LORD is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will praise him, my father's God, and I will exalt him" (Exodus 15:1-2).The Israelites had great reason to sing, God had just delivered them from the armies of Egypt. He provided a means of escape from their pursuers. What has God done for you lately? Sing to Him with songs of praise. He is our great God who delights in us. What more could we want?

Let us quit playing church, and live as sojourners in this world. Too often our worship becomes perfunctory as happened to Israel: "My people come to you [God], as they usually do, and sit before you to listen to your words, but they do not put them into practice. With their mouths they express devotion, but their hearts are greedy for unjust gain. Indeed, to them you [God] are nothing more than one who sings love songs with a beautiful voice and plays an instrument well, for they hear your words but do not put them into practice" (Ezekiel 33:31-32). We have a God who not only wants to sing over us he searches for us: "For this is what the Sovereign LORD says: 'I myself will search for you my sheep and look after them" (Ezekiel 34:11).We who claim to be Christian, one of God's children are the means and methods He brings the Good News of salvation to the world. Come participate, and may God sing over you with great delight as you faithfully carry out the Great Commission given us by our Savior Jesus Christ.

Daily Prayer:

Oh Father! you sing over me, I feel so unworthy, I have too often sat back and did nothing, yet you love me, you search for me, you saved me. My heart is bursting to tell someone of your great love. Lead me today to that one you wish for me to bring the Good News of salvation. Give me the words to speak. I trust in you! Amen
