Legalese: Unilateral nullification of the terms and conditions of the expiring agreement absent bona fide impasse is prohibited. Unclear, only lawyers can understand that language. What does that mean? Here is the answer: One party cannot leave the contract early without a good reason.
At times the Bible seems to be just like legalese and there are some hard to interpret passages. The above verses are not that: they are clear and understandable. In fact, in most cases if a person would just read a little further in they studies the author more often than not gives the meaning. There are those in cults that pull out of context the meaning for their heresy. There can be no doubt as to who is the Alpha and Omega, it is the Almighty LORD: "This is what the LORD says--Israel's King and Redeemer, the LORD Almighty: I am the first and I am the last; apart from me there is no God"....Listen to me, O Jacob, Israel, whom I have called: I am he; I am the first and I am the last. My own hand laid the foundations of the earth,..." (Isaiah 44:6; 48:12-13a).
Heresies, misinterpretations occur when the whole counsel of God is not considered. It takes time to do a thorough study but so well worth the effort. Many are chasing after a spirituality that is not intended. The most wonderful teaching in the Bible is that our Savior, Jesus, is God. No doubt, no legalese, no confusion, it is clear sound Biblical doctrine. We have freedom in Christ, don't burden yourselves with a form of spirituality that is not Biblical. Faith Considered is all about teaching us to look deep in the Word of God and learn from it allowing the Holy Spirit to guide and direct our study and our lives.
"This is what the LORD says: "In the time of my favor I will answer you, and in the day of salvation I will help you; I will keep you and will make you to be a covenant for the people" (Isaiah 49:8a). This Jesus did for us, He made with us a New Covenant, setting aside the Law. Furthermore our God gives us great hope: "See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands;l you walls are ever before me"..."then you will know that I am the LORD; those who hope in me will not be disappointed" (Isaiah 49:16, 23b).
What more can be said? What is holding us back?
Daily Prayer:
Jehovah God, I call you by name, my Savior who gives hope and keeps His promises; You who hold me in the palm of Your hand. May my life bless You! Forgive me for failing to acknowledge You and where I have failed to live up to Your righteous standards. Thank You for all that You have done for me, guide me to those who I might influence to see that they too can have You and be placed into Your palms. Amen
