What's wrong with kids today? My friend Mort explains: "When were kids we were very disciplined. My father was very strict, but along came the electric razor and took away the razor strap. then furnaces took away the woodshed. And along came taxes and the worries of it took away my Dad's hair and with that the old hairbrush disappeared. Ant that's why kids today are running wild, the old man has run out of weapons!"
Today the world is different, the culture has changed. We complain about the children, we worry whether or not they will "turn out right" and become good citizens. Is it possible that what is really needed is not another new ipod, or a new electronic gadget, but maybe just some good old family time.
We are much too busy, trying to get ahead, to be able to provide abundantly for our children. That is what we say anyway. Is it too hard to just take time for instruction, I don't mean necessarily a formal Bible study, although that might be something needed, rather, planting flowers, helping around the house, possibly just having dinner together and talking about everything. Demonstrating a family life, being interested with each other. Then, they will listen to instruction for they know you truly care for them and love them. Jesus was a great example, He spent time with His disciples, even spent much time with strangers, answering questions, and giving much needed advice. Never did He push Himself onto his audience, He just loved them and showed them that love by being present.
Daily Prayer:
Father again I come to you with a thankful heart. My children, family are important to me. Help me to demonstrate Your love to them. Amen
