God's Wonderful Grace and Mercy

"With the merciful thou wilt show thyself merciful; with and upright man thou wilt show thyself upright...As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him"  (Psalm 18: 25,30).

                                                                                                                                         HE GIVETH MORE GRACE

                                            He giveth more grade when the burdens grow greater,
                                            He sendeth more strength when the labors increase;
                                            To added affliction He addeth His Mercy
                                            To multiplied trials, His multiplied peace.

                                            His Love has no limit; His grace has no measure:
                                            His power no boundary known unto men;
                                            For out of His infinite riches in Jesus
                                            He giveth and giveth and giveth again.

When King David penned the above Psalm he had been delivered from his enemies especially from the hand of Saul.  Taking not the the glory for himself he lifted his gratitude and voice and gave all the credit to God: "The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower. I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies" (Psalm 18: 2-3).

Today take time to reflect on all the God has done for you.  You will find that in spite of difficult circumstances that seemed impossible He was there, invisible, quietly working out the situation.  To often we find ourselves taking credit for the results or giving the credit to others rather than seeing the hand of God.  We may have thought that if God was truly in this situation He would have handled it a certain way.  This is not our God and His way is often unknown to us; done in a manner much different from our ways.  Jesus did not heal in the same manner every time.  Some were healed instantly, another two times mud mixed with spittle was applied, some had to wash themselves, others just touched His garment.  How and what manner He works in our lives is all within His sovereignty.  We must allow that if He is truly God.

Soon this world and all its troubles will be in the past.  The first Book Genesis narrates the scene where the Cherubins are guard the way to the "tree of life" so that none could find it and partake of it until the Day of the Lord comes.  He has come and is coming again and then: "Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city" (Revelation 22:14).  The Bible closes with the "Tree of Life" available to all who keep His commandments.  So as almost bookends, the "Tree of Life" holds between the narratives, principles, the methods of God dealing with His people, give hope, and truth, and most of all tells of our salvation through the gate which is Jesus; "Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door (Gr. thura = gate) of the sheep" John 10:7).

Now all this is something to reflect upon, and a place to put our trust.  We may not know how things will be handled by God we just know He will intervene. We are to be obedient and leave all the consequences to God.  Easy to say, you say?  Yes! In time it will become easier to do, reflection will open your eyes as to what God has done.   Look to Him the author and finisher of our faith.

Daily Prayer:

Father you are sovereign and I am often so weak in faith and forget your sovereignty.  Please forgive my doubts, heal my fears.  As I reflect today upon You open my eyes of understanding.  Thank You for Your grace and mercy.                                                                          Amen
