"He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed" (1 Peter 2:24).
Our Savior Jesus came to save us and make atonement for our debt. He chose the time and the place to come and willingly went to the cross even though He could have called upon legions of angels to assist Him. That is love! Love in the highest degree!
This day, enjoy it, reflect upon our Savior, speak to your children, not just about Easter eggs, and baskets, but the true importance of this celebration. Take time, break bread and drink the cup with your children, visitors, even if they do not claim Christianity. Show them by your actions that Christ is truly your Savior and maybe, just maybe, your solemn attitude will make the kind of impression that they can see their need. The Holy Spirit will be present as always, He is waiting for you to take action.
Celebrate! He has Risen! He took His sacrifice and presented it to the Father, we now can come to the Father ourselves, we have Jesus as our intercessor. Jesus is preparing a home for us, as the old hymn speaks: "I've got a mansion just over the hilltop, in that bright land where I'll never grow old...." That is an assured hope, assured by the Death, Resurrection, and Ascension by our Immanuel, Jesus.
Daily Prayer:
Father, thank you for loving me so much that you sent Your Son Jesus to die and pay my debt. May I always keep remembering this day long after the celebration is over. May You Jesus become LORD over my life. As John wrote, you are the light that shines in the darkness, shine through me to my friends and family. Amen
