Are Assumptions Guiding Your Life?

"When I consider thy heavens, the work of they fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou has ordained" (Psalm 8:3).

The most important words of all time, history, are: "In the beginning God..." (Genesis 1:1a). If anyone cannot believe that then there is no reason to go any further in the Bible.  For those who cannot get past those words; life is nothing more than assumptions built upon assumptions.  It is not an "Intelligent Designer" that caused the world, the universe to be.  It was God, and from Him came to be all that is and has been, for in the "beginning" He created the heaven and the earth.  I do not have to assume that, for I can see with my eyes His works, they are evident, they exist, and there is perfect design demanding wisdom.  An "Intelligent Designer" is a subtle way to avoid the word "God."  It does nothing to assume a disinterested "Intelligence" would create without wisdom any thing that would be truly good.

Those who choose not to believe those first words recorded in the Bible have to assume much that cannot be proven, their assumptions lie in their hypothesis that things just happened by chance.  They have no answer as to where anything that exist came into being.  They have no answer for that question for if they and they do say, that it always existed are saying no more than what the Bible says about God, He always has existed.  The assumption of evolution rests solely on time.  Somewhere someone decided that they could determine time needed for chance to deliver the world we live in.  How did they decide?  What was their criterion to make a time judgment?  No rock, no bones, have a date stamped on them.  Yet, undaunted they choose the necessary time for any fossil find arbitrarily, just add enough zeros and the public will believe their assumption.  For that is all that it is. Are we truly that gullible?  Or is there another reason?

Our natural self resist dominion, we wish to control our lives in the manner we desire.  We desire to set the rules that best please us; therefore, any rule that constrains us is to be avoided.  If I believe, put any faith in those opening four words, then I am compelled to follow any rules set forth by God.  We want to be king or queen of our lives, our world.  "The wicked, through pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts" (Psalm 10:4).  Their lies much of the problem in accepting "In the beginning God..."; it is our pride!

Like all fallen humans I too have to fight pride that leads to assumptions that take me far from the truth.  God in all His Providence, His wisdom, loves His creation, His love is demonstrated in all the world, and for all the world to see.  I love for He created me with His attribute of Love, in His image, His attributes in me are not assumptions, they are real, I experience them.  The question is do I give Him the credit or do I give the credit to mere chance, and assumption?  God, allows much to happen but we are not left without hope for this fallen world that lives in misery and turmoil.  God came as Son of God to save all who will put their hope on Him and leaves us not with false assumptions, He came, that is reality, He died, He rose again, He ascended into heaven attested to be real people in real history.  Do not let assumptions lead your life.  We have the reality right before our very eyes.  Trust God, for "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth" and all that is within it.

Daily Prayer:

Father You did not leave us without evidence of Your reality.  You who are above all things demonstrated Yourself through Your Son Jesus.  Jesus is more than a representative of You, He is You.  Thank you for only a God of love would do what You did through Your Son.  Help me as I take this message that there is reality, not assumptions, of You and by means of our accepting Your salvation life eternal in a world free from sin is ours and theirs.                                                                           Amen
