The Flood Of Love

"Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commands" (Deuteronomy 7:9)

For forty years God rained down upon the Israelites manna to feed them after their food ran out after leaving Egypt. For six days the manna came and on the seventh day no manna rained down. They were to gather enough on the sixth day to last through the seventh day. This is a bit unusual for every other day if the manna was kept over night it spoiled. God is in control. A lesson here for us, are we giving God His due, a period of time that we do nothing except concentrate on Him and His goodness. Do we prepare for that event?

It is raining outside and has been now for three days and from the weather report it will continue throughout the week. The wind is blowing hard, the rain is relentless, I am thinking of building an ark. I am reminded of a story:
A bishop advised a politician to go out into the rain and lift his head toward heaven. "It will bring a revelation to you," he said. the next day the politician reported: "I followed your advice and no revelation came. The water poured down my neck and I felt like a fool." "Well," replied the bishop,"isn't that quite a revelation for the first try."

I am reminded of the worldwide flood of Noah's day that brought judgment. If I focus on the judgment part of the story I will be like that politician, I will miss the truth. It was salvation depicted in the story of the flood. Just ask Noah and his family. God is a just God, His justice is our great hope for He provides for His people and also brings rain and sunshine to all. His love and Justice brought Jesus to be our ark, our salvation. The rain at times is unwelcome, but it is the truth that Noah was real, the flood was real, and not just a story. Real lives were impacted both for the good and for the bad. So as I watch the rain pour down from heaven I am reminded that one soon God will rain down the greatest blessing, greater than the rain that brings life to the land for crops to grow for food for both man and animals. It will be the reign of Jesus as He comes and removes the bad leaving only the good. This reign is everlasting and ever pouring out upon mankind.

The Kingdom of God had rained down into our time by the coming of Jesus the first time as a babe and man. The Kingdom will reign down when Jesus comes in power. It is our privilege to take to our world this life giving reign. Will you join in?

Daily Prayer:

Father thank you for the rain. Thank you for the greater reign of Jesus. You provide for us in every way. May we look towards heaven for you will reveal to us your love and your will for our lives.    Amen
