When God Laughs

"The One enthroned in heaven laughs" (Psalm 2:4a).

Call me crazy, but when I read that verse my weird mind pictured a "boss" saying, "When I smile you had better smile too." I hadn't really thought of God laughing. Had you? God takes his own medicine. In fact He invites us to join in with Him, "His master replied, 'Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness" (Matthew 25:21). The invitation is on, "Light is shed upon the righteous and joy on the upright in heart. Rejoice in the LORD, you who are righteous, and praise his holy name" (Psalm 97: 11-12). I'm thinking, hmmm..... there is a party going on in heaven, I read about angels playing music, singing, shouting, clapping, I don't want to be left out. "Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters: and you who have no money, come, buy and eat" (Isaiah 55:1)! Oh! He is making it too easy, I don't even need money, just come, the invitation is universal, in other words it is for everyone to be able to come. The only ticket you need is faith in Jesus Christ as the Messiah, and Savior. That's it! Will you come and join with me?

A friend of mine told me this story: One day an acquaintance of his family mentioned to his mother: "Does everybody in your family suffer from insanity? "Not at all, not alt all," she smiled, "in fact we all enjoy it." I want to be as crazy as King David, "I will celebrate before the LORD. I will become even more undignified man than this, and I will be humiliated in my own eyes" (2 Samuel 6:21b-22).

"We are fools for Christ..." (1 Corinthians 4:10a).  Well there it is, I am a fool, a bit crazy. Definitely enjoying this insanity. I'm packed, my face is washed, my best rags are on, and I am waiting for the bus. It's is coming. I hear there is a banquet and a mansion waiting there. Come on, this invitation is for you.

Daily Prayer:

Jesus, you gave an invitation, I wish to respond, RSVP. party of one. Thank you, for without your sacrifice there would be no everlasting joy. Guide me to invite others to your kingdom, there is refreshment for our souls there.                               Amen
