I Shall Be Glad

"Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ" (Galatians 6:2)

If I might share
A brother's load along the dusty way,
And I should turn and walk alone that
day,
How could I dare--
When in he evening watch I kneel to
Pray--
To ask for help to bear my pain and
loss,
If I had heeded not my brother's
cross?

Today, as usual now on Sunday afternoons I visit Elinor, stroke victim, laying in that bed for the last six years, my troubles seem to fly away. We share laughs, we talk about anything that comes up and we definitely talk about our savior. Prayer with her is genuine and heartfelt. Others come to visit from time to time but not on a regular schedule, she is so glad that someone is taking time for her. Don't put me on any pedestal, I get more out of it than she does, if you ever see her, don't tell her.

When I examine the early church I see a totally different ecclesia, a people concerned for one another. It isn't that the church does nothing. The big question is what are we doing? Who can we affect, and who needs help? Taking the culture of today as being somewhat different doesn't remove the needs of those who could stand a little visit. I am not attempting to put a guilt trip on anyone. The question is more this; Is Jesus living through me? "For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me" Matthew 25:35). What got me thinking was after my study on the early church and then today I found a book by George Barnes, of the Barnes Group that has a website that gives statistics on the Christian Church and has written some 39 books, wrote about the need to return to the attitudes of the Early Church. I agree!

God does not care so much about our sacrifices, He wants our obedience. We need to quit playing church, and become the ecclesia (called out ones) and keep it simple do what we can, no more, be intentional, and I can guarantee from my own experience, you will receive a greater joy, you shall be glad. "Praise be to the LORD, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens" (Psalm 68:19). God does it for us, He asks us to copy Him and do it unto others. My Big Question is This; Why did I not do this before?"

Daily Prayer:

Father lead me to as many people that you want me to touch. Thank you for those you have sent me too, and thank you for bearing my burdens. Jesus you bore it all on the cross for me, now send me.    Amen
